A Comparison of English Coursebooks: The Aspects of Narrative-driven and Patchwork-like coursebooks

In this research I would like to investigate the evolution of coursebooks, and highlight the main differences between the narrative-driven books (e.g. Access to English) and the patchwork-like books (e.g. Solutions): what are some aspects of these two types of books that can be used effectively, and which segments are unnecessary. Moreover, the questions of communicative approach, creativity and students' engagement also appear.
