I’ve taken children ages 5 months to 17 years to Disneyland over the years, with one brave day including 5 children on my own. A Bug’s Land in Disney California Adventure Park used to be one of the best places for babies and toddlers at Disneyland, with four sweet rides that catered to young guests. Disneyland park can seem very crowded in some areas, such as Adventureland, which makes it hard to get strollers through on busy days. But since that is not always an option, consider what both parks have to offer before deciding. We had been hyping it up in the days leading up to our visit, thinking he surely had some sense of what it meant. Yet what I often find is a lot of advice on how to go on as many rides as possible and see as many parades and live shows and squeeze as much as you can into one day.But, here’s the thing—babies and toddlers don’t know all the things there are to see and do. Many people thought we were crazy bringing three toddlers to Disneyland, but we have always found plenty for them to do. Last year, I ranked my favorite Disneyland attractions for toddlers and preschoolers (or more accurately, Virginia ranked her favorites!).

My favorite age group to take to the parks is from around 2-5 years old for a variety of reasons. It's about 20 minutes long and really cute. The kids napped in the Grand Californian hotel lobby, and we stopped at two play areas where my son could run around and burn off that toddler energy. That became starkly apparent to me on my latest trip to Disneyland with my two-year-old son, who had already been three times before.

For this, we have a bit of a hack: We put them in the stroller or baby carrier like everyone does, but then we head to one of the hotel lobbies to take a load off in a comfortable indoor environment (Disney’s Grand Californian is my hotel of choice).

But, Disney California Adventure doesn't offer as many classic character meet-and-greets as Disneyland does. If the answer to that is "no," I always recommend they go to Walt Disney's original park.

Some of the attractions, like Snow White's Scary Adventures, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and The Pirates of the Caribbean do not have height restrictions, but are dark and can be scary for young kids. For both parks, the per-day cost decreases as you add more days to a multi-day ticket.
